DIABETES
Description:
Diabetes is a metabolic disorder which is characterized by reduction in carbohydrate metabolism & an increase
in protein & lipid catabolism. There are two major types of diabetes:
- Insulin - Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (DM1)
- Non - Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (DM2)
It is associated with high blood sugar levels which is a indicator of its control by drugs - oral anti-diabetics or insulin.
However, the complications of this syndrome like neuropathy (burning sensation in hands & feet), atherosclerosis (blockage in arteries),
retinopathy (disturbed vision), cataract, nephrosis (kidney diseases) & other changes in the body system continues even after treatment.
In other words, Diabetes mellitus often referred to simply as
diabetes, is a syndrome of disordered metabolism, usually due to
a combination of hereditary and environmental causes, resulting
in abnormally high blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia). Diabetes
mellitus refers to the group of diseases that lead to high blood
glucose levels due to defects in either insulin secretion or insulin
action.
Symptoms:
The classical triad of diabetes symptoms is polyuria, polydipsia and
polyphagia, which are, respectively, frequent urination, increased
thirst and consequent increased fluid intake, and increased appetite.
Symptoms may develop quite rapidly (weeks or months) in type 1 diabetes,
particularly in children. However, in type 2 diabetes symptoms usually
develop much more slowly and may be subtle or completely absent. Type
1 diabetes may also cause a rapid yet significant weight loss (despite
normal or even increased eating) and irreducible fatigue. All of these
symptoms except weight loss can also manifest in type 2 diabetes in
patients whose diabetes is poorly controlled i.e. sugar levels are not within normal range.
Treatment
- Retards absorption of dietary sugar
- Insulin-like action improves sensitivity of insulin receptors
- Stimulates the transport of glucose into muscle tissue
- Increases formation of glycogen in muscles
- Natural source of Pinitol
- Prevents diabetic complications (such as cataract, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular disorders and neuropathies)
- Lowers blood sugar and enhances insulin secretion
- Can be given in combination with other allopathic drugs or insulin
- Natural antibiotic
- Nature's best anti-infective agent
- Strong immunomodulator
- Anti-inflammatory
- Antipyretic
- Antifungal
- Antibacterial
- Antiviral
- Antiparasitic
- Anti-hyperglycemic
- Fortifies the immune system
- Supports healthy liver functions including detoxification
