Choco-flavoured isabgol for Uncle Sam

A LUCKNOW-BASED Indian company has found a business proposition for constipation and bowel problems that a lot of Americans suffer from. Organic India, a certified organic company, has launched export of blended and flavoured Psyllium (isabgol) to the United States.

Chief Executive Officer, Organic India, Krishan Gupta announced this here on Friday.

Isabgol (Psyllium seed husk) is a natural vegetable product, which is nature's highest soluble fibre.

Gupta said, "It was the first time that any Indian company would export Psyllium as a finished product with blends and flavours. India produced 85 per cent of Psyllium, but till now only the crude form of it used to be sent abroad in bulk. We decided to make a premium quality finished product for export."

He said the company's range comprised of peach, chocolate and orange flavours where Psyllium was blended with Aloe Vera and Inulin. Psyllium husk powder promotes good digestive health and bowel regularity, Inulin is a prebiotic that helps grow beneficial bacteria needed to maintain healthy large intestines while Aloe Vera helps intestinal tract and aids protein digestion and assimilation.

The product currently has been made and packaged exclusively for the US market and will not be available in the domestic market.

The company has associate offices in Israel and United States. Organic India USA will distribute the product in the US market.

Organic India is maker of the original Tulsi teas. Gupta said that the product had all its ingredients organically grown by its farmers in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Later this month, the farmers from the three states will celebrate "Tulsi Mahotsava" with the company officials in Azamgarh.
